Dear families,
I look forward to learning about you so I’d like to let you know a little bit about me. When I tell people that I’m a nanny I always see different reactions. People have many ideas of what a nanny is and what it means to be a nanny. To me it means everything. I always say “I’m a nanny” with such confidence and pride because it is the best thing I could ever do with my life. It gives me the unique position of being a part of so many families’ lives. I like to think my impact on the children I’ve cared for is educational, social and emotional. When the children think of me they think of their best friend who built forts with them, who helped make their Halloween costumes and tickled them until they giggled. What they may not recall, since I generally start out working with infants and toddlers, is that I would teach them sign language so we could better communicate with them, that I helped them learn how to carefully walk up and down steps, that I helped them develop their fine and gross motor skills with fun activities.
I’m proud of the impact I have on children’s lives and also the parents. While my job description is always focused on the child I always go above and beyond to make sure the parents are also cared for. If a parent is having a stressful week I bring in bath bombs or their favorite sweet, if I have extra time in the morning I pick up the parents favorite coffee drinks because it’s these little things that mean the world to someone else.
I am a person who teaches kindness and positivity with everything I do. I go above and beyond for the families I work for, for the families and nannies in my community and consistently strive to be the best person and nanny I can be. Everyday I learn new things, enroll in new courses, check blogs, talk to new people and make new connections so I can be the nanny my charges deserve.
Although I consider myself an accomplished nanny I will never stop going above and beyond for my families and to further educate myself.
